The amazing true story of Graeme Obree
In 1993, unemployed Scot Graeme Obree astonished the cycling world by breaking the World Hour Record on a revolutionary bike made for £50 from scrap metal and parts of a washing machine. Losing the record just days later, Obree turned to pursuit racing, a sport entirely new to him. But the maverick Scot – bedevilled by mental problems – had reckoned without cycling’s bigwigs, who came up with new regulations with only one aim, to stop Graeme Obree from riding.
